So last night I watched CSI Miami, which I think was a new season. It seems that during her time off I was surprised to see that Emily Proctor had had either a bad facelift or way too much botox. Emily is a amazingly beautiful woman, who in her 40's was ageing very nicely. She has now done something to her face that makes her look embalmed! As I watched her I felt sad for her that she felt the need to change. So it raises the question - is it any worse when a not so pretty person gets botoxed or enhanced? We seem to celebrate beauty - in whatever form it is processed, yet not question the motive behind needing to become more beautiful. Insecurity, unacceptance, and a pressure to conform.
Kate Beckinsale, commenting about playing Ava Gardner in “The Aviator” said, “They don’t make dames anymore. It’s really sad that one of the things we’ve lost in movies and in life is that, in the quest for everyone to get Botoxed to look like they were 30 when they’re 45, we’ve lost our dames.
So sad but true...

I agree, Calleigh's gone a bit out of control on the old botox... it's a shame because she is lovely anyway - could have done without it. I think there's nothing wrong with a smile line here & there - it adds character & reminds everyone that you are, after all, still human. I think it's getting to an almost comical stage when you see celebrities on telly (particularly of the American persuasion) who might look picture-perfect, until they start to speak, and you realise nothing in their face moves apart from their lips!! Time to start caring less about looking perfect ladies, and start embracing the quirks, wrinkles, and differences that make us who we are! Beauty is far more than what Hollywood shows us - it's about being you! Wow, I'll get off my soap-box now :-)

I did a search on 'CSI character' 'Callogen' when i saw the big lips on Calleigh. Is it Botox or Callogen that went haywire? Anyway, too bad huh? I don't get that whole fad..
